What is Turmeric?

Turmeric is a root that comes from the Curcuma longa plant. It grows commercially in Southeast Asia. It has a warm, bitter, black pepper-like flavor and an earthy, mustard-like aroma. Moreover, studies show that the benefits of turmeric milk are enhanced when combined with black pepper. Strong anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antifungal properties are found in turmeric curcumin. However, the disadvantage of curcumin is that it is not well absorbed by the body. That’s where black pepper comes in. Black pepper contains the active ingredient piperine, which aids in the body’s absorption of curcumin. Black pepper and turmeric are two potent spices that work well together.
