Why Make Shawarma AT Home
This Shawarma recipe is incredibly simple and delicious, and you will love it. Simple everyday spices make an incredible Shawarma. The smell, when this is cooking, is divine! Its so easy to make at home that you dont need to make a trip to resturant to satisfiy your cravings.
Shawarma is one of my favorite Middle Eastern street foods. Whenever my family and I visit Washington, DC, we always look for the halal food trucks that sell shawarma wraps. It’s one of the other attractions besides monuments, museums, and the White House.
STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE ON HOW TO MAKE SHAWARMA AT HOME
- Make a mixture by adding all the spices into a small bowl and mix together.
- Cut meat into thin slices. You can use chicken, beef, or lamb depending on your preference.
- Marinate the meat overnight for the best result, but if you don’t have time you can even marinate for just a couple of hours.
- For threading the meat first take a half onion and put 3 to 4 skewers in it. Now start threading meat pieces. Fill the meat closely so there is not much gap between the meat.
- Now cover the skewers with another half onion.
The best part for me is cutting, it’s just like experiencing cutting shawarma in a professional style but at home.
Serve in Pita bread with sauces and vegetables.
How To Serve The Shawarma
Shawarma can be served as a sandwich or wrapped in a flatbread like pita or laffa. Traditionally, it is served with shawarma Garlic Sauce, Shawarma Chili Sauce, and Shawarma White Sauce, Shawarma is served with french fries, either on the side or layered with pita-wrapped meat.
